Dr. Orlando Sanchez is an indigenous neuropsychologist who has learned to integrate his indigenous perspective into the Western framework of the U.S. healthcare system.
In this episode, Dr. Sanchez shares how he has developed bicultural competence and shares his perspective on how our healthcare system can grow from cultural encapsulation toward cultural competence and cultural sensitivity. He also explores how healthcare leaders can work to retain ethnic minority trainees and professionals by creating space for indigenous and ethnic minority values.
Finally, he reminds us that while there may not be one clear solution to solve all of the challenges facing healthcare, we can work together to do our part to create transformation.
