Show Notes

Setting boundaries will help you to model personal leadership strategies for your employees and keep you sustainable in a challenging healthcare environment.

Dr. Mari Yamamoto shares some challenges of navigating full-time roles as a clinician, parent, and partner. She shares how her values guide her daily decision-making and prompt her to set boundaries to protect her most important priorities. She also reflects on some of the systemic supports that have enabled her to find work-life flexibility in COVID times. And we explore some of the challenges that make it difficult for healthcare systems to provide maximum flexibility.

What might healthcare look like if we recreated our systems to allow clinicians working in the system to thrive? It is time that we sat down and asked ourselves this critical question.

What small step could your organization take towards creating a nurturing and nourishing environment for everyone involved?

Bio: Dr. Mari Yamamoto is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor in a Family Medicine Residency at a large academic medical center.
