Aaron Katz is a Principal Lecturer Emeritus at the University of Washington’s School of Public Health.
As Aaron shares in this episode, his brain naturally thinks at the 30,000-foot public policy level. I am thrilled to take this step back to look at the world of healthcare and consider how the daily lives of clinicians are impacted by local, state, and national policy decisions.
We consider the impacts these pressures have on daily clinical life, ranging from the length of patient appointments all the way to the loss of federal protection for abortion rights. As we consider these tough challenges, Aaron highlights the simple actions each of us can take to begin impacting local and national policy.
We spend time reflecting on the underlying values of our healthcare system. And we consider the challenges and benefits of some alternative health systems in our global community.
I hope that you take the time to reflect on one step that you as an individual can take to engage with health policy at the hyper-local or national level.
And as always, thank you for listening!
